APEDA’S main aim is to promote and use of cheap and eco-friendly sources of energy like Hydro, Solar, and Wind, Bio-mass etc to save our environment and also to save our fossil fuel reserve. So emphasis is being laid on use of new and renewable energy.
 The activities undertaken by APEDA are as follows-

1. A 6.8 wind Solar Hybrid power plant is under construction at Tengavalley with state matching share through MLALAD’s.  The electro-mechanical equipments have already reached the site and civil works are 70% complete.
2. 25 nos Solar home lighting systems and 5 nos street lights have been installed at Central Institute of Himalayan Cultural Studies, Dahung under MLALAD’s.
3. 6 nos Border area villages have been illuminated through solar home lighting system under PM package and rest 10 no0s villages are to be illuminated.
4. 5 nos mini hydel projects viz Dulakho MHP at Tengavalley(200KW), Khadibe MHP at Thrizino(200KW), Mathinala MHP at Doimara(50KW), Melongkang MHP under at Dirang(50KW), Jangtangpu MHP at Thembang(10KW) are under proposal through PM package which are likely to sanctioned soon and work started.

          It is really glad to learn that APEDA is included in the District website. This will help in keeping an up to date record of various activities of the departments and also with the district Administration.
