BRIEF PROFILE OF DISTRICT INFORMATION AND PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICE: BOMDILA.
- ADMINISTRATIVE SET UP:
The District Information and Public Relations office / Branch was established in the year 1972 with a view to act as a tool of media for dissemination of information, publicity and public relations under the Directorate of information public relations & printing, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh.
- FUNCTION OF THE DEPARTMENT:
The District Information and Public relations Office, Bomdila, acts as a catalytic agent in dissemination of information by way of press releases to the state dailies / weeklies etc and to All Radio Itanagar and also to Doordharsan Kendra, Itanagar, with regards to the programmes and functions of the district, V.I.P. / V.V.I.P visits, celebration and organization of important occasions and functions, conduct of meetings and seminars, tour programmes of VIPs and departmental heads etc.
- PUBLICITY PLANNING AND PROGRAMME:
Under this caption, this office requires to plan and formulate suitable publicity plan and programmes in close co-ordination with the concerned Developmental departments for organizing publicity campaigns on various socio-economic issue like welfare schemes, education, health and hygiene, poverty alleviation, communal harmony etc. Besides playing an important role in dissemination of information, this office covers all the programmes and functions in conformity with the electronic and print media available.
- PROJECTION UNIT:
We have only 01 (one) Projection Unit in this district which caters to the needs and demands of the whole district for providing of P .A. System, attendance and coverage of the functions/occasions. Earlier, this included screening of film shows/ video shows. But due to the poor fund allocation to the department from the state government, the Directorate Office at Naharlagun has discontinued the screening of films and documentaries.
- C.L. SETS AND CVTV:
The State Govt. had earlier issued C.L. sets and C.V.T.Vs through this department / office to the villagers of far-flung areas as a source of info-tainment. But the scheme has been discontinued by the government due to financial constraints. But this office still sees / ensures to the proper functioning of the C.L Sets and C.V.T.Vs issued by giving free maintenance services in our office workshop by the Radio Mechanic and the Projector Operator.
- PRASAR BHARATI/CINEMA AND VIDEO LICENSE/CABLE OPERATIONS ETC.:
This office also acts as the Nodal Office for implementing the Prasar Bharati acts. Issue and renewal of cinema hall and video hall licenses and supervision of the cable operations by the cable operators in the interest of the public service.
- PROJECTION UNIT:
This district has only 01 (One) projection Unit at Bomdila. It is difficult for the DIPRO and his field staff to cover all the programme and function of the 12 circles of the district. It would be sensible to open new projection units at ADC headquarters Dirang, Singchung and Thrizino and at SDO headquarter Rupa with another at EAC headquarter Kalaktang and Bhalukpong.
This would ensure timely and proper coverage of all the functions in the area covering smaller circles under it.
- PROVISION/SCHEME FOR TOWN BROADCASTING SYSTEM (TBS):
The district headquarter Bomdila is located on a hilly terrain and stretches to a large area. It is practically impossible to cover all the places during Mobile Town broadcasting by the old departmental Gypsy. At times, the departmental gypsy becomes off-road for want of fund for repair / replacement of parts. Hence, the previous scheme of Town Broadcasting System (TBS) may be reconsidered for effective functioning. This scheme when re-implemented could play a vital role during natural calamities like flood, earthquake, fire-accidents etc. This would also be handy for the administration and the police during emergency – like situation besides being helpful and effective for routine announcements.
